There are some great community organisations around supporting Neighbours Day – here’s some of our favourites:
Central Taranaki: The Central Taranaki Safe Community Trust are helping get as many streets as possible involved in a BBQ on the berm event by offering FREE BBQ food packs for the street! Please contact Di at safetrust@xtra.co.nz or 06 765 8863 for more info
Canterbury: Community Connections Grant. These grants are provided by the Red Cross and administered by the Christchurch Methodist Mission. Small grants of $300, $500 and $1000 are available for individuals, groups and neighbourhoods in the Christchurch, Selwyn, Waimakariri, Hurunui and Kaikoura Districts to build connections and grow community spirit. Kapiti Coast: Kapiti Coast District Council are promoting and supporting Kapiti residents to hold an ‘Over the Fence Cuppa’. They support ‘Cuppa’ hosts with a supermarket voucher, activities for kids, icebreaker game sheets, Civil Defence and Neighbourhood Support material, print invitations, and loan giant outdoor games etc!! Auckland – Whau Local Board: Whau Local Board is partnering with Community Waitakere to celebrate the annual Neighbours Day by offering small grants for events such as a street or park parties, neighbourhood barbecue, picnic, brunch or gathering. For an application form, please contact Mandy on 09 838 7903 or 0225043003 or email mandy@communitywaitakere.org.nz. Applications must be received by 9 March 2018.

Neighbours Day Aotearoa 2018: Register Today!

Neighbours Day Aotearoa is just around the corner! I hope you’ve all got the weekend of March 24-25th in your calendars, because it’s gonna be amazing!
We’ve been roaming around the country chatting with you all about the great events you’re putting on – make sure you’re connecting on our facebook, twitter and instagram accounts to watch our videos!

Have you registered your event yet? Head on over to our events page, pick an event and register. We’ve got four great events to choose from :
BBQ ON THE BERM – This is a perfect event for people living in the suburbs. It’s as simple as firing up a kerbside barbeque and inviting your neighbours around for some kai. It can be as low key or as high voltage as you want!
FIESTAS BETWEEN THE FLOORS – This is a perfect opportunity to meet your neighbours if home is an apartment building or if you work in an office block. A chance have some fun, share some food and get connected!
POP-UPS IN PUBLIC PLACES – This one is for the real go-getters! Create an event in your local public park, square or community organisation carpark and celebrate the uniqueness of your area.
WILD CARD – For those of you who want the freedom to organise something a little bit different, or a little bit specific. Something that celebrates the uniqueness of your neighbourhood. A community clean up? a flash mob? It’s up to you, go wild!
Plus! if you register before March 5th you’ll go in the draw to win a $200 prezzy card!
