With the end of 2016 approaching way too fast, Christmas only just around the corner, and thoughts of next year already starting to enter our minds we thought it timely to let you know all about some of the pretty exciting stuff happening in the Neighbours Day camp.
In this newsletter we have:
- – The dates for Neighbours Day are set
- – Make your New Years Resolution a neighbourly one
- – Network meetings coming up for organisations
- – Farewell to the lovely Ashlee, and welcome to our new Project Manager, Janette.Dates for Neighbours Day!!
Dates for Neighbours Day have been set! 25 26 March 2017 is the weekend we’re all working towards. Leading up to that weekend we’ll be letting you know about some of the awesome events and activities happening near you, sharing stories, giving you a little inspiration around how to get your neighbourhood revving to go for Neighbours Day, and for those of us who are a little shy, some helpful tips on how to get started.
Make it a New Year’s Resolution!
Earlier this year we put it to the Neighbours Day community to vote on the best way to launch Neighbours Day 2017. The winning idea was is ‘Make it a New Years Resolution’, and so that is what we’re rolling with. Make getting involved in Neighbours Day your New Year’s Resolution.
If you or anyone else signs up for Neighbours Day 2017 between today and the 31st of January you go in a drawer to win a $100 grocery voucher. We’ll be making 3 draws, one in December, one in January and one in February.
We know there are some of you who are real champions of Neighbours Day Aotearoa, so for those that get the most people joining up we have a little incentive for you too. We’ve added a section in the join up page where people can mention how they heard about Neighbours Day. This is where all those awesome people you get to join up can pop your name. If you, or your organisation, come out on tops and have the most new members joining up then you will win a $100 grocery voucher as well!!! Whaaattt!! Now that will come in handy either for your awesome Neighbours Day event, or your friendly neighbourly bbq, or will pay for the TimTam’s you bring when you have a cup of tea with your neighbours.
So make sure you share the love and spread the word.
We are holding two network meetings next week! This is an opportunity for the organisations who get involved in Neighbours Day to come together, hear about 2017 and share ideas and thoughts about how to make Neighbours Day 2017 brilliant.
Christchurch Network Meeting
9:30am – 11:30am Tuesday 6th December The Garage, Christchurch Methodist Mission 231a Matsons Ave, Papanui, Christchurch
Auckland Network Meeting
12:30pm – 2:30pm Friday 9th December The Fickling Centre, 546 Mount Albert Road Three Kings, Auckland
You can rsvp for either of these by emailing
WELLINGTON – We haven’t forgotten about you! We know many of the fabulous people and organisations we work with are up to their eyeballs in working through the earthquake recovery process.
Our thoughts and hearts are with you all. We will be emailing you all before Christmas with some other ways to get in touch and share information about what you’re all doing. We will also be in touch in the new year to work out a best time to get together, and celebrate not just the festive season, but your amazing resiliency and ability to support each other through the challenge … exactly what neighbourliness is all about, and we think you are amazing.
New Project Manager
Last month we said goodbye to the lovely Ashlee who has been supporting Neighbours Day over a year and helped make Neighbours Day 2016 brilliant. Ashlee has winged her way to Papua New Guinea to start a new and exciting adventure with Volunteer Service Abroad. Very cool!
Last month we also welcomed to the team a new Project Manager, Janette Searle. Janette has been working in the creative and not for profit sector for many years in business development, project management and fundraising roles. She is based in West Auckland but grew up in Wellington, spends a great deal of time at her second home in Northland, and has family in the Manawatu, Hawkes Bay, and Waikato regions. So is familiar with the North Island, and is looking forward to getting to know more about the South Island communities, kicking off with her first Network meeting next Tuesday!
