We’re delighted to have Iwi and Dennis as our February Neighbourhood Champions.

They were nominated by their neighbour Tanya who told us “I sent hubby over to let Iwa know they had won. This couple is so humble that she was in complete shock. This sort of thing happens to others, not to them. They are still a bit stunned lol.”      It’s often the best people that are the most humble, and busy getting on with their awesome ‘doing’.

The lovely team at Orania Natural Skincare are sending Iwa a thank you gift which we know she will love.

And for those interested here’s the story that Tanya sent in to us.

“I would like to nominate Iwa and Dennis Tule-White as our neighbourhood champion of Glenholme Rotorua.

Having only been in the street just over a year this wonderful young family has made quite an impact on our little street.

Iwa and Dennis have raised their kids to be mindful, respectful and definately a part of our little community here in Mahoe St. Our cul-de-sac is always brimming with love, light and laughter as the kids play.

Everyone says hello to one another, we all gather for the occasional laugh and our street is proud that it is safe for our kids. In our street we have two high school age, one intermediate and five that are ten and younger.

When other kids come into our street to play they must play by the rules

1: No bullying

2: Stay safe

3: look out for one another

and there is always a parent or neighbour watching over the kids.

But what sets Iwa and Dennis apart? The other day four kids from out of our area were playing out here and two didn’t have helmets while riding their bikes and scooters. It was Iwa who gave those two kids helmets to keep so that they could play safely with the other kids.

This young couple are always there to lend a hand to help their fellow neighbour and I would absolutely love for them to be acknowledged and for Iwa to be able to have a mum pampering session lol.”

Awesome story, and so very cool when your street becomes like an extended family looking out for each other.  We know that the great role modelling going on here will be spread when the kids have families of their own.

Congratulations Iwa and Dennis, and thanks Tanya for nominating them.!
