New to Neighbours Day Aotearoa, Joy and Mary-Rose fell in love with the idea at a community meeting and got started straight away on organising their activity!
When Neighbours Day Aotearoa met Joy and Mary-Rose they were attending the Welcome Bay Community Centre to hear about how to get involved over coffee and scones. They fell in love with Neighbours Day Aotearoa and wanted to be involved immediately. Seeing the opportunity to get started straight away, they gathered with their neighbours from Meander Drive and got planning!
Within 10 minutes they had organised a time, place, and furniture for their Neighbours Day get together. Because they don’t have a cul-de-sac in their street, they planned to take over the neighbouring street and get more people involved. “We are going to ask our neighbours to bring a plate to share and it will have to be BYO chair!”
It’s easy to take the first steps to get to know your neighbours better. Join in Neighbours Day Aotearoa to find out how.
