I HEART MY HEALTHY HOOD

My story is about my partner, the green fingered Gardener. Since we bought our house in Haruru Falls just over a year ago Daniel has been busy transforming our garden. He has built a big raised bed for all our veggie plants, transplanted and relocated tree’s and collected and grown seeds into lots of plants to provide food for our family with plenty of surplus for neighbors. He has designed and built a luxury Chicken house that has an auto feed and water station and pink batts insulation in the roof to keep our girls warm in winter and cool in summer. The Taj ma Chook is home to our 6 Chickens who give us 6 eggs most days. He has also been busy trapping Rats, mice and possum to eradicate the pests from both our garden and the surrounding bush.
We live in a great neighborhood with friendly local neighbours who all share their surplus produce from their garden. Diane gave us lots of Citrus when she had lots, Dave shares his tomatoes, cabbage and greens and we have given green beans, fresh eggs and grapefruit marmalade to the neighbours and swap eggs for fish with another friend.
Best of all Daniel is teaching our two children, Olivia(4) and Alexander(2) all about growing food for themselves, they love to harvest the peas, strawberries, blueberries and beans from the garden. They can identify different herbs and vegetable seedlings and love to eat the fresh produce and help cook it too. They help plant the seeds and watch them grow. Its giving them a healthy, green, happy start to life.
