Lisa from Warwick Street thinks the proximity of her neighbourhood to a school is why they are so well connected. “The school provides a hub and for us that have children there, we know the parents from school activities”.
Warwick Street went one step further in connecting their neighbours over Neighbours Day Aotearoa 2014. As part of their street festivities, they launched a tree decorating competition to provide some fun and a bit of competitiveness into their neighbourhood connection.
“We also had a BBQ on our verge, a fairy for the kids and games and activities. It was a great day!”.
Doing something creative and fun helps to engage kids in the street and gives a point of difference for connecting with your neighbours.
